These 4 basic chords-shapes are an important foundation when starting out on the guitar. You will see these chords / shapes coming back in many songs. Also these shapes can be shifted up the neck but we'll leave that for another lesson. Right now lets waste a few weeks learning these basic shapes and trying to play songs with them on your guitar.
They are the:
- G Major
- C Major
- D Major
- E minor
Learning this stuff can be hard at first. You will be struggling with fingers that are unwilling to do what you want them too. We all started out like this and there is only one way to overcome it. Keep at it! come back in a day a week and keep practicing. In time it will get easier and there is no greater joy than to playing along with some epic rock track! you will get there!
