Good to Know

The B melodic minor in musical notation

In the Harmonic Minor there is a big gap between the b6 and the 7th interval. for a melodic line that has less of this big jump the Melodic Minor is used. It's the same as a Natural minor scale but with a raised 6th en 7th note (by a Halfstep). Or if you compare it to the Harmonic Minor it has only the b6 raised to a natural 6th. This scale is common in Jazz music.
