Good to Know

The Eb minor in musical notation

The Minor scale is also known as the Aeolian mode. It has a distinct melencoly sound wich is a effect of the minor 3rd, minor 6th (13th) and minor 7th notes. Its triade is a Minor triade, and it seventh chord is a Minor7th (other extensions are 9, 11, b13)

Circle of Fifths

The circle of fifths is a great way to organise and memorize the major and minor scales. All major scales in the middel ring have their relative minor scale in the inner most ring and they share the exact same notes!

So, this Eb Minor scale has the same notes as the Gb Major scale and while their notes are identical, their relative intervals are not.
Also the scale to the right, the Bb Minor scale and the scale to the left, the Ab Minor scale, are very similar to the Eb Minor scale in the fact that only one note is different to the Eb Minor scale. A concept that can be usefull to modulate your song to an other key center.
